Annual and National Charity days

At The Minors Nursery School we take part in many national and international charity days to raise the awareness of our children about the world around them and to encourage helping those most in need. Such charitable causes would be November’s annual ‘Poppy Day’ appeal, as well as biannual events such as Red Nose Day and Sport Relief.

Specific Charity Events

Every December we have a collection at our Christmas concert to raise funds to pay for a Christmas Party for the hostel next door to us (Andrew Provan House – for mothers and babies who have fallen on hard times). We also collect donated gifts to give to the young children at the party;  the staff wrap and label them to ensure a smile on all faces on Christmas day!

In the past, we have had special charity days; such as a Pyjama Day to raise funds for ‘Rays of Sunshine’ who help terminally ill children enjoy a treat of a lifetime and we have been collecting unperfumed toiletries and treats to go to a company called ‘Chemogiftbags’ who deliver bags to offer welcome respite to those undergoing chemotherapy in the London area.

Our charity days usually involve dressing up, bringing something in or having a special visitor to encourage the understanding and awareness of our young children.

We frequently support charities that are brought to our attention by our school community and therefore all the more relevant to us and indeed we always opt for child related charities where possible.
